WATCH: HUL Wins The Seasoned Business Trophy At The Achievers Awards; "What's Good For India Is Good For HUL", Says FMCG Giant's CMD Sanjiv Mehta

India’s largest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) received the Seasoned Business Award at the Republic-Open Magazine Achievers Awards 2019 on Monday. 

The Seasoned Business Award honours long-standing businesses which have steered the nation towards development and prosperity and have made a positive impact on the local business community in India - boxes HUL ticks like few others. 

Sanjiv Mehta, the Chairman and Managing Director of HUL, received the award from Sanjiv Goenka, the Chairman of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, and Republic TV's Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami. 

Mr Mehta opined that "As a country, we're a bit shy of applauding success. The Achievers Awards could act as a catalyst for people to raise aspirations, kindle the ambition."

He went on to highlight how despite his company tracing its larger corporate parentage to the UK-Netherlands joint-headquartered behemoth Unilever, its ethos are Indian and its heart beats for India: 

"From a HUL perspective, I always say that the route of our capital may be Anglo-Dutch but our ethos are Indian, our heart beats for India... and it comes from a very simple philosophy - What's good for our country is good for HUL."

Sanjiv Mehta proceeded to dedicate the award to the people:  "I'd like to dedicate this to the millions of our countrymen who have reposed trust, faith and confidence in our brands."

HUL is widely considered to be a path-breaker in India, not only for its daily household products but also for pioneering numerous distribution techniques that are unique to India. The strength and calibre of its alumni has also led to it being informally referred to as India's best B-school. HUL beat out a number of other stalwarts such as TCS, Asian Paints, TVS motors and more to win the award.
