‘Facebook presents One India’ is a series which showcased stories of ordinary people coming together to impact the lives of many for the better. The Season 2 of One India revolved around the spirit of change and revolutionizing things using technology. This season was all about the stories that how technology was used to reach out to the communities and empower them.

The concluding episode of One India presents to you, VMedo, a start up by engineering students of Bengaluru, who work for providing better and quicker medical care.

VMedo is a one of its kind healthcare providing technology that focuses on the issue of emergency healthcare and medical transportation in India. Lack of quality and quick health care services usually cause anguish and mental trauma in the patients and their families. VMedo has been trying to serve these people by providing ambulance services, patient transportation service, blood donation, first-aid and other kinds of medical services. 

Keeping in mind, the good samaritans, who stop back and provide assistance to anyone in case of emergencies, VMedo also provides training to individuals about emergency medical care. The initiative was started with the motive to connect blood donors to blood seekers, yet it grew to be an emergency medical service platform. 
 
In the course of a couple of years, VMedo has been able to register over 3500 ambulances, and has almost 45- 50 thousand active users on the app. 

There is a difference in the response within 45 minutes and response within 30 minutes, so that 15 minutes of difference in emergency response, could cost us a life or a death. That is the whole problem statement that we at VMedo are trying to solve. - Praveen Gowda, CEO, Co-Founder, VMedo

In this episode, a panel of experts discuss the VMedo mission, and how it’s using technology to save lives. The panel consists of Praveen Gowda (CEO, Co - Founder, VMedo), Dr. Tamorish Kole (Head - Emergency Services, VPS Rockland Hospitals, Delhi), Dr. Sudheer Tyagi (Neurosurgeon, Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi) and Prof. Sarang Deo (Associate Prof. - Operations Management, ISB Hyderabad). 
 
The panel discussed about the lack of quality and emergency medical services, and insufficient ambulance services when it comes to the growing global population. They also discussed the importance of emergency medical care. The concept of emergency medical services in itself is 50 years old and there are still aspects of it that are to be studied. 

The panel also talked about the need for emergency medical services in rural parts of the country and what is being done to ensure better provisions in these areas. There is also a need to bridge the gap between supply and demand to scale up initiatives like the VMedo. 

The second season of One India has been a successful initiative to reach and highlight stories that uplifted the communities through technology. One India featured stories like that of Ajay Mandvi, Goonj, Gaon Connection, who use technology to build a better India. Facebook along with Republic TV is honored to commemorate the heroes who are bringing about a change in the society at large. While the season has ended the stories of inspiration will live on.
