Minutes after Imran Khan was injured in a firing during his rally in Gujranwala, the former Pakistan Prime Minister issued his first statement on November 3, Thursday. In the statement, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf supremo thanked the almighty for blessing him with another life and vowed to fight back.
Several other people, including PTI leader Faisal Javed and local PTI leader Ahmad Chattha, also sustained injuries, while Gujranwala DHQ Hospital sources say that one person has lost his life.
"Allah has given me a new life, considering one of the injured has been declared dead, " said Imran Khan, who was shot in the leg not less than three to four times, and was shifted to a hospital. A 4-member medical board has been constituted to treat his injuries. He is undergoing a surgery.
Taking to Twitter, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif said, "I strongly condemn the firing at Imran Khan's rally. An immediate report of the incident has been sought from the Interior Minister. We pray for the speedy recovery of Imran and other injured. The Federation will provide all possible support to the Punjab government in the security/investigation of the incident. Violence should have no place in national politics."
Besides, Pakistan PM shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, among other leaders, condemned the incident in "strongest words".
