Ola's driver partner Manjunath Ningappa Pujari, from Belgaum district of Karnataka, has started a free night ambulance service to help the patients reach hospital in time.
Manjunath offers the free ambulance service after concluding his Ola duties at 9.30 pm each night. As per his wife, Manjunath drives for Ola from 6am to 9am and then does a full day of work in another job. After coming back at 6 pm, he again drives from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm, and his free night ambulance service starts after that.
Explaining why he took up this initiative, Manjunath narrated an incident of a time when a patient came to him at 1 am, and it took him very long to arrange for a vehicle to reach the hospital. He then decided to buy an auto to serve the people in distress.
The Ola auto driver holds his family as an inspiration for the initiative. He considers his family to be his 'backbone' that supports him while carrying out the social service.
Manjunath wanted to join the join the Army and serve the Nation, but he met with a very bad car accident in 2004, after which it became difficult. But a good heart finds its own way to serve good, and thus, Manjunath came up with this free night ambulance service and helped several patients in distress.
